Decatur Practice Grossing $700,000

The practice was started from scratch in the early 1980’s shortly after I graduated from dental school. The practice grew through word of mouth and within a year, it became self-sustaining. In the late 1980’s, I built a new office which prove to be a great asset. 

The office consists of a 2500 square foot building with 6 operatories, spacious reception areas, large business area, central nitrous, and a 2,000 square foot basement for storage.

Decatur offers a diverse base of industry and as such we tend to see less volatility in production than some of the other major cities in Central Illinois. Springfield, Illinois is heavily weighted to State of Illinois insurance due to its being the State Capitol. Champaign-Urbana has the same influence with the University of Illinois as does Bloomington, which is influenced by Illinois State University. Decatur has influences from Caterpillar Tractor Company, Archer Daniel Midland, & Tate & Lyle. No one company comprises too large of a segment of the practice revenue.

Our revenue is generated from fee-for-service, indemnity insurance and Delta Premier membership. We have remained free of HMO and PPO.

Being an economically diverse area, our clients are also diverse. We have clients from all walks of life and many different job and professions. We have mothers, children, farmers, factory workers, small business owners, large business owners, lawyers, accountants, physicians, and even a few dentists as clients.

We have an excellent staff. Our office manager has been with the practice over 15 years and is one energetic lady! She makes the office fun as well as organized and efficient. Our hygienists have developed individual relationships with many of the clients as their children have gone to school with many of the clients children. Ok, truth be told, the hygienist loves to talk and the clients love to listen.

With all this one may wonder why I am looking to sell my office. The reason is simple. Dentistry is a hard and demanding profession. After 30 years of providing care, it is time to retire and enjoy free time with travel and hobbies.
